THE PROJECT
A water-related initiative, in line with one of The Rotary Foundation’s Areas of Focus.
In collaboration with Father Fabio Sem, a missionary priest of the Diocese of Como who has been serving for many years in the parish of Uco, Peru, we are supporting the construction of a pipeline that will carry water from natural reservoirs located at an altitude of over 4,000 metres in the Andes to the communities below, where water scarcity is a serious issue.
The pipeline will also make it possible to store water for the schools of the small community of Chambruco.
In September, a small delegation from our Club will travel to Peru to inspect the progress of the work and meet with the local Rotary Club of Chimbote to explore the possibility of a further and more substantial joint intervention in the same area.
One of our Club members will review the project costs, while one or two Club volunteers will travel from 21 to 28 September.
