An unusual presentation by newly elected President Lombardi at the Serre del Grumello.
Walking among the tables in informal dress code, he thanked those who elected him, the Past President, the new Board of Directors, and declared his minimum objective to disappoint all members at least once. After introducing himself, his family, and his passions (at least in football terms, dreadful!), he found us somewhat unprepared on Rotary history and encouraged us to understand the 2022-2023 motto of Rotary International President Jennifer E. Jones “Imagine Rotary”: imagine a world that deserves our best, where we rise each day knowing we make a difference. He emphasized the importance of Rotary Round Tables and outlined the four pillars of his program: 1) adaptation: the ability to adapt and innovate (within tradition). 2) engagement: placing members at the center of what we do. 3) reach: working on membership and welcoming people who share our values. 4) impact: the ability to solve problems effectively and, in this perspective, evaluate the sustainability of service projects. Entrepreneurship, youth, and communication will be additional priorities of his term. Finally, the question posed to each member: why Rotary? Have you changed someone else’s life for the better through your involvement in Rotary? Has your life changed for the better thanks to Rotary? (Reflect, people, reflect… as Renzo Arbore said in a television commercial in 1980…).
