{"id":1299,"date":"2023-11-10T08:48:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T07:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rotarycomo.org\/progetto\/the-santelia-project\/"},"modified":"2023-11-10T08:48:52","modified_gmt":"2023-11-10T07:48:52","slug":"the-santelia-project","status":"publish","type":"progetto","link":"https:\/\/rotarycomo.org\/en\/progetto\/the-santelia-project\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sant&#8217;Elia Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">DATE<br \/>\nThe project presentation took place on 19 April 2012.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">THE BEGINNING<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s2\"><br \/>\n<\/span>The idea originated with President Moschioni, who proposed moving beyond the concept of a single annual service project by giving greater continuity and impact to Rotary activities through a service initiative spanning three presidential terms. The Club approved the proposal, and the three Presidents involved\u2014Moschioni, D&#8217;Angelo, and Mascetti\u2014signed the agreement for the &#8220;fund allocation project.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">THE FUND<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<\/span>At the end of each Rotary year, \u20ac15,000 would be set aside to be used for a major project benefiting the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">THE SITUATION<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"s3\"><br \/>\n<\/span>At the end of the second Rotary year, the first \u20ac30,000 had already been allocated (in a dedicated current account). During the third presidency, the task was to complete the project. <\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">THE PROPOSALS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">1. VILLA GENO FOUNTAIN<br \/>\nProposed by Moschioni<br \/>Restoration of the illuminated fountain at Villa Geno, built around 1950 and once a magnificent landmark of Lake Como. Over the years, the fountain had fallen into disrepair, operating at only a fraction of its original capacity and without illumination. The proposal included a complete restoration of the systems, using modern low-energy lighting technology and remote management to restore its former prominence.<br \/>2. THE SANT&#8217;ELIA PROJECT<br \/>\nProposed by Mascetti and D&#8217;Angelo<br \/>Cataloguing and digitising the works displayed in the Permanent Gallery Exhibition, including 35 original works together with the educational projections of the 164 drawings in the collection. The project would provide researchers and students with access to Sant&#8217;Elia&#8217;s artistic legacy, an important part of the city&#8217;s cultural heritage. It also included the installation of 20 commemorative brass plaques featuring his portrait at significant locations throughout the city.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&gt; LETTER FROM MAYOR STEFANO BRUNI<\/p>\n<p>Dear President Eng. Mascetti,<br \/>\nAs I had the opportunity to express during our recent meeting, I would like to reaffirm my highest appreciation for the Sant&#8217;Elia Project promoted by the Rotary Club of Como.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Please extend the gratitude of the City of Como to all your members.
